inflammation. We specialize in Lymphatic Massage/Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) which
aids the body to clear out unnecessary toxins and cellular debris, allowing the body
to regenerate faster. It is our goal to educate and provide services that directly improve
your lymphatic health as a part of your self-care regimen to a better, healthier you.
About Us and Our Approach
Our bodywork includes Manual Lymph Drainage and Medical Massage. We may use orthopedic
assessments and
palpation to address each person’s specific needs and goals. We are dedicated to improving your
wellness
with a natural holistic approach without the use of harmful pharmaceuticals and unnecessary
invasive
procedures.
In our first visit, we do a comprehensive evaluation of your medical history, assess your goals,
and best of
all, provide your first treatment. Your follow-up treatment will be scheduled at least 2-10 days
after your
initial visit, and will provide a vital part of the evaluation. Based on our analysis, we can
recommend the
best plan to kickstart your Lymphatic health into high gear.
Like training a muscle to become stronger, frequency is key to build Lymphatic health. In the
first 4-6
weeks, your therapist may recommend a frequency of 1-3 treatments a week which is based on
severity of your
symptoms. In this phase, it is our goal to acclimate your body to push Lymph at a higher rate
than normal.
Once acclimated, we taper out appointments, finding “the sweet spot”, ranging anywhere from 4-6
weeks to
maintain you feeling great.
More About Your Lymphatic Health
Your Lymphatic System and its role in maintaing good health
Although Lymphatic work is called “massage”, it is a very different type of bodywork from
traditional
massage. Seventy percent of your lymphatic system is in your skin! Because of this, we use
light,
feather-like movements to push lymph fluid to larger lymph vessels and organs (where the other
30% are
located) to be filtered and expelled. Designed by Dr’s Emil and Estrid Vodder in Europe, MLD can
improve and
facilitate the movement of lymphatic fluid from the body’s tissues into the lymphatic vessels,
soothe and
calm the nervous system, as well as provide pain relief.
The Lymphatic System consists of vessels, ducts and nodes and is closely connected to the
cardiovascular
system. It is often referred to as an ”internal cleaning system for the whole body” . It is
vital for the
maintenance of human life because if it fails to function correctly, excessive fluid and toxins
build up
causing the body pain, loss of energy, infection and disease. During the complex transportation
process, the
lymph fluid is cleaned, concentrated and filtered by one of the 600-700 lymph nodes located
around the body.
They also produce a certain type of white blood cell, namely lymphocytes, which is why the
lymphatic system
plays an important role in immunity.
An inefficient Lymphatic System
If the Lymphatic system is working efficiently, we generally feel healthy. Tiredness, constant
fatigue,
bouts of colds and infections could mean that our lymphatic system is weak and struggling to
function to its
optimum capability. If congested, the lymphatic system may result in metabolic waste inability
to be
removed, and can also prevent new healthy nutrients that are key to the human cell’s very
existence.
How can MLD help?
The effects of MLD are numerous and generally affect the nervous system. It aids in pain relief,
encourages
relaxation, soothes tired sore muscles, and aids fluid movement in the connective tissue. By
stimulating the
lymph vessels, MLD positively affects the immune system as well.
Is MLD compatible with other treatments?
MLD combines extremely well with other complementary and standard treatments. As with all
complementary
therapies, some conditions may require consent from your physician.
With our MLD treatments, we do not use lotions or oils on the skin which supports the Lymphatic
system to
get the best possible results. We limit aromas, which may be reactive to some clients.
